I started out raising beef cattle. When the
opportunity came up to buy 13 Oscar cows and
calves from Benny Brown in 1984, I bought them
and started this as a hobby. After I purchased the
cows, anytime I was near Lockford, Ca. I would
stop by and visit with Bob Barmby. We would talk
for hours. I learned alot from that man. He was
one of the nicest men I have ever met.

Because of the drought years in the late 80's and
90's, to feed the bucking stock, I had to sell all of
my beef cattle. Around 1987 we put Bobby
Christensen's Oscar's Velvet on our cows. And in
1989, we purchased Oscar's Velvet from Bobby
and the rest is history.
